Card Golf
Rev: 2.3.5Game Rules & Guidelines
Object of the Game
The object is to lower your total score as much as possible over the course of 9 or 18 complete holes (hands). The player with the lowest structural total match score at the end wins.
Gameplay Flow
Each player manages a grid layout (2 rows of either 2, 3, 4, or 5 columns). Two cards start flipped face up. On your turn:
- Draw a face-down item from the Draw Pile or select the top card from the face-up Discard Pile.
- Swap the drawn element with any of your card spaces (face-up or face-down). Swapped cards are placed face up, and the replaced card goes to the Discard Pile.
- If you draw from the Stock Pile, you can opt to immediately dump that card face up straight into the Discard Pile.
- Forced Flip Rule: If enabled, immediately discarding a drawn card from the Stock Pile requires you to turn over one of your face-down cards to the board.
Scoring Index Matrix
- Pairs: If 2 cards matching in rank are placed in the same vertical column, they cancel each out and count as 0 points.
- Jokers / Twos (Wilds): Worth -2 points depending on selected modifier.
- Kings (K): Worth 0 points.
- Aces (A): Worth 1 point.
- Cards 3 through 10: Count face point value.
- Jacks (J) & Queens (Q): Worth 10 points.
Configure Match Settings
Hand Size (Cards Per Player)
iDetermines how many cards each player deals into their layout area. Cards are dealt into two equal rows; choosing 4 cards builds a 2x2 grid, 6 cards builds a 3x2 grid, 8 cards builds a 4x2 grid, and 10 cards builds a 5x2 grid. Strategic choices change as you manage larger layouts.
Negative Point Cards Modifier
iSets which cards act as a wild bonus to help lower your score. Choosing "Use Twos" treats all number 2 cards as -2 points. Choosing "Use Jokers" shuffles extra Jokers into the deck that count as -2 points. All Kings remain 0 points in both variations.
Match Length
iSets the total number of rounds (holes) played to complete a full match game series. Scores from each hand accumulate over time, and the player with the lowest total structural score at the end of the final hole wins.
Extra Draw Overtime Rule
iProtects you from a sudden round completion. When enabled, if the AI opponent turns their last card face-up to end the hand, you are granted one absolute final draw turn to improve your own score before the hand concludes.
Immediate Discard Penalty
iAdds a penalty risk to your draws. When enabled, if you draw a card from the hidden Draw Pile and immediately send it to the Discard Pile without swapping it into your hand, you are penalized and forced to flip one of your remaining face-down cards face-up.
