How to play
You are GM2 Taylor on the forward .50 caliber mount of USS Kittredge. Keep pirate skiffs off the ship you are escorting.
Rules of engagement
- Identify. Hold a boat in the binoculars until the lookout reads it. Pirates carry ladders and weapons. Fishermen carry nets.
- Warn. Put a burst in the water just ahead of the pirate's bow. Some crews give up.
- Disable. When the bridge clears you, shoot the outboard engines at the stern to stop the boat, or hit the red fuel tanks just forward of the engines to blow it up. The crew jumps overboard and our rescue boat picks them up.
If pirates get a ladder up the merchant's side and climb aboard, the mission fails. Knock out the skiff's engine and it falls behind.
The gun
Rounds take about a second to reach 800 yards and drop as they fly, so aim a little high and lead a moving boat. Every fifth round is a tracer. Fire short bursts: long ones overheat the barrel. A belt holds 100 rounds. You can fire while looking through the binoculars.
